Top row, second from the left (not counting the teacher).
The dog in Karen McCoy's lap is Frankie, our mascot.
After pulling Karen's name from the ether, I went through and realized I can still name all the little girls, and all but one of the boys.
Is there someplace I can sign up to ditch all this useless history and make room for something new?
Not useless at all. A bright little girl, grinning innocent, with forced awareness aware of a cold war, between Christmas and Easter warmth. Fear, when hearing the rumour that someone shot the President, and then we were all sent home. Music changing before our very ears. A cauldron of sexuality myths and duties behind the scenes as we approached puberty and began our journeys.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the letting us look over our shoulders to see the past is still there; the foundation and launchpad. Today, we glimpse at the woman you've become, all wise and such. Not bad... not bad at all for one of the Franklin Elementary School Collies!
SG -- I was only a year behind you at this stage (I think you skipped a year later on?), so John F was still president. We'll talk about that tomorrow....
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's useless. I wish I remember more of this stuff. What was I doing that I've forgotton so much?
ReplyDeleteyou were one of the 'big kids' since I was 3 at this time....
ReplyDeleteNot useless at all. History. I love looking at old family pictures - especially school ones. Keep them - your grandchildren will be interested one day.
ReplyDeleteYeah...it's called BLOG...us fools out hear wanna know it all...dirt and all!!! I'm afraid I would remember them all too...even the bitches!
ReplyDeleteI haven't forgotten your baby head, I just haven't found the right one yet, my dealer friends are out scouting for me, they've been in Texas, so who knows what they dragged home...ha!
Soon...sharon
Of course, I KNOW JKF was still President during the 62-63 school year. I was only using the reference to help define the era. Why do you always pick out little details and embarrass me in front of the whole class? If you keep picking on me, I'm going to tell Mrs. Saylor and she will send you to to Mr. Andrews' office. It's a good thing Mrs, Beehgley isn't still principal, or I know what she would do to you... the same thing she did to Danny Brumley!
ReplyDeleteNeeeyaaahhh!
smiles.........sg
If you find out where to ditch the useless info, let me know. I've had the lyrics to "Girls" by Beastie Boys kicking around in my head for far too long...
ReplyDeleteDamn. I'm good.
ReplyDelete*pats self on back*
Jeanne, I thought I spotted you with your long hair next to the girl in the specs. You look just the same today!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that you remember all those details.
Something about that smile and your eyes that gave it a way for me...and the glow of wit about you!
ReplyDeleteYou all were the Collies ? Nice. (: I won't touch that one.
ReplyDeletePhotographic memory, eh? I bet that comes in handy.
yay! I did it! I usually suck at guessing but your eyes just gave you away!! You have the same eyes... well, of course you do...I'm not suggesting you had them done...um, ok, I'll stop talking now!
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm afraid you are doomed, as am I. I can remember names of kids in kindergarten, for god's sake...
ReplyDeleteWow thats amazing you can remember their names......I look at my class pic and can recall the faces, but the names are blurry.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute little cuties.....:)
Wine? I hear it kills a few brain cells though, so you'd probably retain the names and lose your keys!
ReplyDeleteYou we so cute and smiling! I don't think that it is worthless info at all..names are hard for some of us to remember..you got it girl..why not flaunt it! :)
ReplyDeleteI guess right then. That's the one that looks the most like Kaitlynn or Eoin.
ReplyDeleteAlso, not being able to remember half the kids in my elementary school class names ... I could tell what Flogging Molly's album the guy across the room was listening too. I don't think you get to choose what stuff replaces it.
