Fiction Friday: I Finished It!

On Tuesday evening I turned my novel over to my writing group for review.

This is the fifth novel I've attempted, the third to make it to completion. It's far better than anything I've written before and represents the culmination of:
1) Three college writing classes
2) Fourteen writers' workshop, ranging from ones lasting a single afternoon to one that ran for a full week.
3) A million words written
4) 10,000 hours invested
5) Dozens of writer's group meetings
6) God only knows how many book on writing I've read and digested (and, often, read again)

I'm hoping to find an agent and a publisher, but if not, I'll publish it myself (either digitally or print-on-demand). Because this one's going to see the light of day.

This means I'll actually visit other people's blogs and catch up with everyone again.

At least, until it's time to start the next one.

  1. I am excited for you! I am assuming its a different process than a poetry manuscript?

I just wrote about my newest excitement...I am glad we met! I can learn from you...although you might feel you should take a few and shove us in the dungeon LOL but please use noodles to whip us, not chains :)

so we feel your pain...he he

  2. And you didn't murder anyone in the process. How does one do it? But you did. And congratulations! Now, here I sit, still extracting words as if they're bone marrow samples. Please tell me I'm gonna do it too . . . Meanwhile, BEST of luck. You deserve it.

  3. Fabulous news...Congratulations!!

  4. So glad you have decided to get this published one way or another. I am eager to hear what the writing group's thoughts are. And I expect you will work as hard at finding an agent and regular publisher as you did on the book.

  5. Way to go! That sounds very exciting, will we get to say "I knew you when..."?

  6. Jeanne, I'm so glad to hear that you've finished and that you're happy with the results.
Can't wait to be able to read this book in any form possible.

  7. So when is the book tour? Be sure to request Minnesota or North Dakota we read books up here too! did it..I am very proud of you..and happy and fairly jealous too! I am honest!
I hope you remember us all when you are rich and famous:)
