Another Rule

Leaving negative comments about people on Facebook is like picking your nose while you're driving.

It may feel private, but people can see you.

  1. Both are something I would just as soon not have to see.

  2. It also bothers me when people post private messages on someone's wall like "When can you pay me the $10 you owe me?" or "Is your wife still mad at you?"

  3. I don’t drive either.
Deeply profound post. Great fun too. Thanks.

    All the best, Boonie

  4. I saw this post on Boonie's sidebar and was intrigued so thought I'd stop by to say hello. A Facebooker who doesn't drive I would never pick my nose in public but confess I have been known to leave the odd (discreet?) message about people on FB.

  5. I admit that I am somewhat intimidated by FB and only make the most benign comments. Or only private messages. Seems to defeat the entire purpose.

  6. Who has time to leave negative comments about other people on FB? It's sad really.
There was a shocking and disturbing incident here recently about a boy who posted photos of his friends sexually assaulting a girl at a rave. He's been charged with distributing child pornography - hopefully sending a message to people that what they think in "funny" can be incredibly harmful and hurtful to others - not to mention against the law. (Charges have yet to be laid against the youth who actually assaulted the girl. I just don't understand that.) I was stunned that FB even allowed the photos to be uploaded. - G

  7. People think that they can hide behind the anonymity of social media, but they are just being ass-hats!

  8. Great rule! Although I have been known to pick my nose while driving. It's kind of like meditating because I zone out at the big booger retreivals.

  9. But sometimes it's a dangler and you have to just grab it!

  10. I would love to post this as my status. Because you're right. In fact, I will! Credit to you, of course.

  13. ooohhhh, I love that saying! Do people NOT KNOW that if you comment on FB, the WORLD sees it?????

p.s one time I "liked" some corny Facebook saying that contained a F Bomb (it really was quite funny). Within 5 minutes I had an email from my Mom and a live chat from my aunt asking did you REALLY just do that?" Oi.
