Fiction Friday: Grad School Granny

It's official: I'm going back to school.

An MBA, you ask?

Uh, no. I didn't want one of those back when I still had enough career left to actually benefit from it.

McDaniel College in Baltimore has accepted me into their graduate certificate (so, half a Master's degree) program in--wait for it--Writing the Romance Novel.

If you've been hanging around the Chronicles for any length of time, you know it's my lifelong dream to write really good romance novels. (I can already write really bad ones. Seriously. I have a drawerful of the suckers.) This course, which consists of five 8-week classes, will get me that much closer to achieving the dream.

The very cool thing about this class is it's being developed and taught by Jenny Crusie, who writes these funny, sexy romances that have this Spencer Tracy/Kate Hepburn vibe.

So, over the next forty weeks, I'll provide updates on what it's like to start grad school at 58.

And maybe, after that, what it feels like to have written a book you're proud of.
